Crypto.com kicks multi-year deal Paris Saint-Germain’s way

European football club Paris Saint-Germain has announced it has signed a multi-year deal with digital currency platform Crypto.com.

The partnership, that’s worth up to 30 million Euro, comes just a month after new Paris recruit, Argentine football star, Lionel Messi agreed to receive digital fan tokens in his club ‘welcome package’.

“Our mission since day one has been to accelerate the world’s transition to cryptocurrency. We do so by finding the best partners in the world, and Paris Saint-Germain is second to none,” said the co-founder/CEO of Crypto.com, Kris Marszalek.

“Between the brand visibility, stadium and team access, and collaborative development of NFTs, I have no doubt we’ll create new and exciting experiences for football fans around the world.”

The partnership is to be celebrated with the release of exclusive Non-Fungible Tokens on the Crypto.com platform. The PSG fan tokens will be available to purchase on September 17.

It will come as no secret that the tokens surged 62 per cent after Messi left Barcelona to join PSG.

Prior to accepting part of his payment in digital currency, Messi advertised his own official NFT art collection, Messiverse, on Instagram.

“Soccer is like art,” he said. “It’s timeless.”

PSG is the most successful club in French football, with an overall trophy count of 44 including seven of the last nine championships in the country’s top pro league.

With this partnership, Paris Saint-Germain demonstrates once more its vision and leadership as a pioneer in areas such as lifestyle, esports and digital,” said Marc Armstrong, PSG’s chief partnerships manager.

“It is an exciting time for cryptocurrency, and we cannot wait to work with Crypto.com to bring new experiences to all of the club’s fans.”

Crypto.com has been an industry leader in sports partnerships, this announcement follows global deals they’ve already inked with the UFC, Formula One and Lega Serie A.
